- Small osseous fractures can belie more extensive cartilaginous injury in nasoseptal fractures
- Cartilage injury is better assessed with an exam, but obvious septal hematomas should be mentioned as they require drainage
- The following elements are relevant to closed fixation techniques
- Displacement/impaction (elevator)
- Involvement of the bony nasal septum (forceps)
